Notice of the Introduction of Accommodation Tax

Effective June 1, 2026

Thank you very much for your continued patronage of SOMA RESIDENCE HAKUBA.

Effective June 1, 2026, a new Accommodation Tax will be introduced in Nagano Prefecture and Hakuba Village. This tax is implemented based on the ordinances of each local government, with the aim of preserving the local tourism environment and enhancing its appeal.

At our facility, to ensure our guests can enjoy their stay with peace of mind, all displayed room rates include the equivalent amount of the accommodation tax. Therefore, there is no need to pay the accommodation tax separately upon arrival.

About the Accommodation Tax

The accommodation tax is levied when the room rate per person, per night (room only, excluding consumption tax) is 6,000 yen or more. The tax amount varies depending on the room rate tier as follows:

June 1, 2026 – May 31, 2029

(Includes the Nagano Prefecture Accommodation Tax of 100 yen)

*Note: The prefectural accommodation tax levied within Hakuba Village will be paid to Hakuba Village together with the village accommodation tax.

Use of the Accommodation Tax Funds

The collected accommodation tax will be utilized for the following initiatives to enhance the overall value of Hakuba Village and Nagano Prefecture as a tourist destination:

  • Development of tourism infrastructure
  • Traffic management and congestion relief
  • Preservation of the natural environment and local landscapes
  • Enhancement of disaster prevention and safety measures
  • Improvement of brand power as an international tourist destination

This tax serves as a vital financial resource to support the future of the region.

Our Rate Display Policy

  • Displayed rates include the accommodation tax.
  • There will be no additional collections or refunds due to changes in the number of guests as long as it remains within the room's maximum capacity.
